A modernist extension with an exposed steel frame and floor to ceiling glazing. The clients also wanted a sheltered external space which was integrated into the design.

The corner structure and envelope were designed to be fully openable so that the internal space and the semi-covered area become one on warm days. Unhindered views are created from the living room toward the westerly facing garden with fixed, frameless floor glazing.

The steel frame was carefully designed with an outer frame connected to an inner frame so that the cold outer frame was thermally separated from the interior and to avoid a cold bridge and condensation problems.
