Projects / Barston Farm
Extensive re-planning, re-modelling and extending of farmhouse within several acre rural site.

With continued involvement from the client the brief was developed in order to open up the dark and convoluted plan and take advantage of views and natural light.

Family spaces were brought in to the heart of building with cooking, entertaining and dining spaces formed around. External oak framed glazing and exposed trusses were used to retain a rustic aesthetic but with large expanses of glazing bringing a modern and unified language back into the building. Much of the existing envelope was retained and rendered to again unify visual character.

Greenbelt planning issues informed the level of development and the brief evolved with this in mind. Detailed liaison was required in respect of justifying the increase in size and technically in terms of the level of glazing to façades.
