The owners had ongoing problems with the envelope and a badly built and planned first floor terrace.
The brief was to firstly make the external and internal spaces more usable and unified and to solve the technical problems.
The solution was a rectilinear flat roof and enclosure over a completely openable sliding and folding glazed door system so internal and external spaces merge. Projecting flat roof windows on the upper level roof were used together with structural glass floor panels in the floor below to deliver light down in to the internal spaces. The external Upvc cladding was replaced with self-coloured render.
