SITE NOTES:
With the client, it was agreed that the external terrace should be stone rather than timber decking. After consultation with the engineer we found that the existing joists under the terrace weren’t capable of accepting the type of loads that stone would impose. We researched alternatives and a composite stone called Grammablend was sourced (not used before externally in the UK), faced in granite and in large 500 x 1000mm units. These were laid flat onto a timber/metal frame with open joints so rainwater is able to drain onto the terrace membrane below.
